The Morning Spanish Immersion Studio.
Mornings lived in Spanish.
Half day Spanish immersion in Providence for ages 3 to 5, with homeschoolers 6 to 11 joining the same mornings. We meet Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 12:30.
A morning in Spanish, in a house full of music and art.
We are a Latino family of artists, and art lives with us. Our Dominican roots shape the Studio, and Spanish is simply part of everyday life here. We run the Studio the way we raise our own girls. We give childhood room here. We know every child by name, and no one is in a hurry to grow up.

Culture and belonging
Spanish runs through every part of the morning, from conversation and music to stories and celebrations. Children meet the language together with the culture that gives it meaning.
Childhood through the arts
Theater and painting, dance and singing, instruments and open ended play fill the mornings, all in Spanish. A child busy singing a song or painting a picture stops worrying about the words. The Spanish slips in on its own.
Growing with confidence
Children here do things for themselves. They pour their own water, put their own work away and put the house back in order before pickup. We give them the time it takes, and the quiet confidence of “I can do it” follows.
A morning, a week, and a year at the Studio.
Every morning follows the same order, so children always know what comes next and settle in without worry.
Every morning, in this order
8:30, arrive and settle
Shoes go in the cubby and grip socks go on. The morning starts quietly at the table.
Morning circle
The group sings its way into Spanish, with the alphabet, the numbers, the days and the weather. On dance and music mornings, that class takes the circle’s place.
The lesson at the table
Our teachers teach one lesson from our own Playhouse curriculum, in Spanish and in English, with the children seated and working on the page. Over the year that means letters and their sounds, first words read and written in both languages, numbers, and the world their families come from.
Snack
Everyone has a healthy snack at the table.
Work with their hands
Children work with Montessori materials and the sensory bin of the day, then make the day’s project. While they work, private piano lessons happen one child at a time.
Lunch together
Everyone eats at the table, in Spanish.
A last project, cleanup and 12:30 pickup
The children put the house back in order themselves before their families arrive.
Every week and every year

- Every weekEvery child has a dance class, a music class and a private piano lesson. They happen inside the morning, and tuition includes them.
- Twice a yearReal animals visit the Studio. The children get to meet them up close.
- Every yearFamilies come to 4 events. The children display their own work at the art gallery show. Everyone gathers for the family luncheon. Then the children take the stage at the music recital with the piano and vocal pieces they prepared. The family picnic is the fourth.
The Playhouse on Rochambeau Avenue.
Our two story house on Rochambeau Avenue holds our love for the Spanish countryside inside a New England home. White walls, warm wood and sunlight fill it. Every corner sits at a child’s height. The toys are wood and other natural materials.
Inside, children move between a creative arts space, a sensory discovery zone and a cozy reading nook. The house also holds an active play hub, a piano and a performance area for the pieces they are learning. Outside, a mud kitchen and a garden give them room to dig, pour and run.

“What a special gem of a place! The staff and program are wonderful and I’m so grateful to have found such a caring, creative and positive place for my daughter.”
“The Spanish Playhouse has been an integral part of our daughter’s childhood, and without the lessons, care and values she has learned here I do not know where we would be. Our experience has been nothing but positive, loving, and encouraging. Anyone who puts their child in the care of the educators at Spanish Playhouse will quickly agree this is the best environment for a child to grow and learn.”

Questions parents ask
Does my child need any Spanish to start?
No. Most children arrive with none. Our teachers speak Spanish all morning and make sure no child is ever lost.
Does my child need to be potty trained?
Yes. Children should be potty trained before their start date, so our teachers can pour all their attention into the morning.
Is this a full day program?
No. The Studio is a half day immersion program, not full day childcare. Families arrange care outside program hours.
Can we visit before we apply?
Yes, and we recommend it. Write to us and we will set an afternoon tour for your family. You can apply after the tour, or before it if you prefer.
